Newlands Memorial and Teenager with Altitude
The Newlands Valley Fell Races are held in the Lake District, with the Newlands Activity Centre in Stair near Keswick serving as the event hub. Participants can choose between two distinct routes that cover significant elevation within the fell running terrain. The event is organized to support local community causes and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The event offers two distance options:
- Newlands Memorial Race: An 11.5-mile (18.5 km) course with 3,609 feet (1,100 m) of ascent.
- Teenager with Altitude: A 15.3-mile (24.7 km) course featuring 7,546 feet (2,300 m) of ascent.
Registration takes place at the Newlands Activity Centre. The event utilizes Sportident timing technology for race results and split times. Participants receive a post-race half pint of beer, and complementary tea and coffee are available. Runners are encouraged to bring their own cups for water to reduce environmental waste.
Vehicle parking is available in a field approximately 400 meters from the registration area for a cash fee, which is provided to the landowner. Bicycle parking is provided free of charge. Refreshments, including cakes, are available throughout the morning for a donation to the event's designated charities. Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event to enter.
