About the race
The Loppet Junior Qualifier & Super Tour is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned cross country ski event held at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, MN and hosted by The Loppet. The two-day program features a freestyle sprint day followed by classic mass start distance races for multiple age classes and a SuperTour distance recognized as the U.S. Continental Cup by FIS.
Age classes and distances for the classic mass start include:
- U14 5 km
- U16 7.5 km
- U18/U20 10 km
- SuperTour 20 km
The event offers scoring for athletes who hold the appropriate memberships or licenses; athletes 14 and under may compete without membership to earn divisional ranking positions for Dream Camp selection. Adaptive athlete categories are included: sit skier, standing adaptive skier, and visually impaired skier, with sit skiers using a course designed specifically for them and standing and VI skiers integrated into the main field. Time factors and classification options follow international standards.
Event services note winter venue operations: trailhead parking requires a permit, athlete and team parking is at Mortenson parking lots, and waxing stations are available in the trailhead lot and on-snow stadium areas with limited electrical service. All fluorinated ski wax products are banned on Loppet-managed trails. The organizer reserves reduced fee or free entries for those with financial need, and Indigenous people may request a discount code to participate for free.
