Loop the Lemur : event overview
Loop the Lemur at the Ross Park Zoo takes place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Ross Park Zoo, 60 Morgan Road, Binghamton, NY. The event offers four timed options:
- Loop the Lemur 6 Hour
- Loop the Lemur 2 Hour
- Loop the Lemur 1 Hour
- Little Lemur Kids Fun Run (open to ages 1 - 14)
All events consist of repeating a 0.8 mile loop inside the zoo. Registrants receive a custom Loop the Lemur shirt and a custom medal; registering by April 30 guarantees a shirt on race day. Awards are planned for overall male and female, second and third place male and female, and the team with the most laps. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Ross Park Zoo for conservation of the black-and-white ruffed lemur. Sponsors include Ross Park Zoo and Keep Grinding Coffee Co.
Course, rules and amenities
The course is a 0.8 mile loop within the zoo. An aid station will be provided for participants in the 6-hour and 2-hour events. Crew is not allowed on course; participants may use a personal drop bag kept at the lemur area and access it each lap. Spectators may not give nutrition or support on course.
Other provisions: bathrooms inside and outside the zoo will be open, and portable toilets are recommended at the start and halfway points. Key rules: only completed laps count, one completed lap qualifies as an official finish, a minimum of one lap is required, runners and walkers share the course, pacing is not allowed, headphones are strongly discouraged and may result in disqualification.
