Loop the Lake 8K
Loop the Lake 8K is a spring running event held at Gray's Lake in Des Moines on April 11, 2026. The event is organized by Capital Striders, a member club of the Road Runners Club of America. The 8k route for 2026 will be certified and the exact course depends on construction in the boat house area. A course map will be provided.
The event program includes:
- 8K race
- Little Lakers race for children 12 and under
Online registration has tiered fees during the spring registration period. Capital Striders members receive a discount on the entry fee. Uni sex race shirts are provided to the first 250 preregistered runners. Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the event at Gray's Lake Park.
Awards include gift cards for the top three male and female finishers with specified amounts for first through third and a masters prize. Top finishers on an age graded basis will also receive awards. Age group medals will be awarded in multiple age ranges with a limited number of finishers recognized per group. A post race celebration will include a beverage ticket for participants of legal age. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
