Longside Loop 10 Mile and Junior Mile
The Longside Loop event on 02 May 2026 comprises a 10 mile road race and two junior mile races. It is organised by Peterhead Athletics Club under UK Athletics rules and holds a Scottish Athletics permit (Licence #13465). The 10 mile course is accurately measured and certified by AUKCM. All finishers receive a bespoke medal.
Distances
- 10 mile road race
- Junior Mile under 16s (ages 12 to 15)
- Junior Mile under 12s (age categories under 12, under 10, under 8)
The route starts in Longside and heads south along country roads toward Peterhead, passing Rora Dairy and running through Inverugie. Runners are then guided onto the Formartine and Buchan railway line, returning to Longside and finishing along the old railway line into the village. Registration and post-race refreshments are served at Longside Church Hall. The start area is about a five to ten minute walk from the hall via Station Road past the golf course.
Roads on the route remain open, so marshals and officials will manage traffic and safety. Headphones are not permitted except bone conducting models, in line with Scottish Athletics regulations. Entries for the 10 mile race are limited to 200 and are open only to those aged 16 years or older. Entry conditions include non-transferability, a seven day internet-entry cancellation right, and participation at the entrant’s own risk. Prize categories are listed for overall and age-group positions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
