Methlick 10K Race and 3k Junior Race, Methlick, United Kingdom

The event takes place on Saturday 28 March 2026 and is organised by Methlick JogScotland at Beaton Hall, Methlick AB41 7DT. The sport is trail running and entries are limited; registration closes Thursday 26 March 2026.

Distances

  • 10 km adult race (runners aged 17 and over)
  • 3 km youth race (ages 6 to 16; an adult may accompany children)

Entry fees are stated as £15 for the adult race and £7.50 for the youth race. Entry fees are non refundable. Money raised will go to the local Jogscotland running group serving Methlick and surrounding areas. All participants receive a unique race medal. Prizes are awarded for 1st to 3rd overall male and female in the 10 km and for boys and girls in the 6-10 and 11-16 age categories.

The 10 km course is entirely on trail, using forest tracks, farmland and woods. It starts and finishes at the cricket pitch, passes through Polesburn woods, crosses open meadow after about 3 km, climbs to farm buildings and a ridge with views over the Ythan Valley and the ruins of Gight Castle, then descends back into the valley and returns via the woods.

The 3 km route follows the forest track (Gight Path) out from the cricket pitch to a marked turning point and returns. Marshals and a sweeper will be on course. There are no water stops on route so runners should carry their own hydration. Refreshments will be available at the finish and are provided by the Methlick School Parent Council. Parking around Beaton Hall is reserved for organisers; parking will be available in the field beside the cricket pitch and will be signposted and stewarded with limited access during the race.

Safety notes from Forestry and Land Scotland are in place: log piles from harvesting must not be approached and participants are asked to clean footwear before and after the event to reduce the risk of spreading tree disease. Prizegiving will take place after the final finisher. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
