Formartine & Buchan Railway Ultra : 9 May 2026
The event is a 12-hour and 6-hour ultra marathon held on the Formartine & Buchan railway line between Maud railway station and Auchnagatt village hall, with the route between Maud and Auchnagatt estimated at 4.3 miles. The location is Maud Railway Museum / Maud railway station (postcode AB42 5LY). The event is organised by Tay & Ram Running Events. Entries open 11 May 2025 and close 15 March 2026. Entry fees are UKA member £60.00 and non-member £62.00. Entries so far: 10 participants.
Race format and rules
Competitors run as much distance as they can within the event time limit. A minimum distance of 26.3 is required to qualify for a medal and goodie bag; additional distance may be needed to complete and confirm the minimum-distance lap. Mini laps will be open towards the end of the race and only completed mini short laps are counted. Support crews are permitted and can provide support at either end of the course. Age restrictions apply: participants must be 20 years or older and are subject to Scottish Athletics rules. Prize categories include male and female senior, veteran, Vet 50, Vet 60 for the 12-hour race; 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the 6-hour race; plus an overall male and female champion trophy returned to the organisers each year.
