Lon Las Cymru
Lon Las Cymru is a 250 mile non-stop race from Holyhead to Cardiff Bay following Sustrans cycle route 8, with the final 55 miles along the Taff Trail. The route runs down the centre of Wales and crosses several mountain ranges, with climbs that include sections of 500 metres plus elevation. The course is mostly on road.
Participants are expected to be virtually self sufficient. Organisers supply water only at mostly outdoor exposed checkpoints placed at approximately every 25 miles, and allow access to one drop bag per runner every 50 miles. Three indoor checkpoints are provided, with opportunities to rest around the 150 and 200 mile points. A professional track timing system is used and runners are constantly monitored by tracker; GPX navigation is permitted.
An overall time limit of 88 hours applies, and a strict halfway time limit at Llandidloes must be met. Entry requires extreme ultra running experience with a previous 100 mile finish as a minimum prerequisite. Entry fee is £280 and entries are non refundable, non transferable, and cannot be deferred.
During the race runners must carry specified safety and navigation items and wear hi viz clothing and lighting at night. No outside assistance, crews, pacers, sticks, or use of overnight accommodation such as hotels or hostels is allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
