Event Overview

Log na Coille is a mountain running event located in County Wicklow. The race follows a traditional up and down format, with the path starting and finishing near Fenton's pub. This event is part of both the Irish Championship and the Leinster Championship leagues.

The main route covers a distance of 10.50 km and includes a total ascent of 700 meters. A shorter course option is also available, covering a distance of 4.00 km. The terrain is classified as moderate, and the course is not marked, requiring participants to navigate the route themselves. The use of GPS devices for navigation is not permitted during the race.

Mandatory Equipment

Participants are required to bring specific safety gear, classified as Level C (Advanced) kit. The final requirements for what must be carried during the race are determined on the day based on weather conditions. The mandatory kit list includes:

  • Waterproof jacket with an integrated hood and taped seams
  • Waterproof full leg cover
  • Hat or buff, gloves, and a whistle
  • Foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent
  • Map of the route or area and a compass
  • Charged mobile phone with emergency numbers stored
  • Emergency food and a way to carry at least 500 mL of water

Failure to present these items may result in disqualification or denial of entry. Random kit checks may be performed by the organizers.
