Trooperstown Hill
Trooperstown Hill is a summer mountain running event in County Wicklow scheduled for Wednesday 15 July 2026. The course uses marked mountain trails and is part of the Leinster League. GPS devices are allowed on the route.
Distances:
- 11.50 km long course with 455 m climb
- 5.00 km short course
The difficulty is rated 7 (2,2,3), indicating moderate terrain, roughly 200–500 m of ascent and a course length greater than 10 km for the long route. The route is fully marked. Mandatory kit is Level B - Standard and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag or equivalent. The specific kit to carry may be finalised on the day depending on conditions; participants must also have a means to carry the kit. Random kit checks may be carried out and failure to have required items can result in denied entry or disqualification.
Entries open on 13 July 2026 and close on 15 July 2026. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries are limited to 250 places. Parking at the event is very limited, with about 80 spaces available; carpooling is mandatory. Parking for the event is at the river carpark, grid reference T 158 969, and the MR Base is used for registration but not for parking. Participants arriving alone may be asked to park in nearby Laragh and walk about 1.7 km to registration.
