Glen of the Downs trail race, Co. Wicklow
This is a trail race held at Glen of the Downs in County Wicklow. The main course covers 8.15 km with 292 m of climb and a shorter course of 4.88 km. The event is classed as Event Difficulty 5: easy terrain within the 200 m - 500 m ascent band and course lengths of 6 km - 10 km. The route will be fully marked and GPS devices are allowed. A route description is to be confirmed and may be a reverse of last year’s route.
Entry is limited to 250 places. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 27th July 2026 and close Wednesday 29th July 2026.
Mandatory Level B kit must be carried as required: waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag or equivalent. All runners must bring these items; the final kit to be carried may be confirmed at registration and random checks may be carried out. Juniors status is to be confirmed. There is no early start.
Registration and parking are at the Outdoor Living car park (Eircode A98W3V8). Parking is limited to about 100 spaces; there is a variable fee structure per vehicle depending on occupancy (free for a full car, or 4/3/2 euro per vehicle). Drivers are asked not to park on Ballydonagh Lane, opposite the start line (private), or on Foxborough Lane; use the main car park. Prizegiving and raffle take place in the car park after the race.
