Event details
The Glen of the Downs mountain trail race takes place in Glen of the Downs, County Wicklow on Wednesday 29th July 2026. The main course is 8.15 km with 292 m of climb and a short course of 4.88 km. The route is fully marked and GPS is allowed. The event is part of the Trail League Leinster and is rated for Easy Terrain with 200 m - 500 m ascent and distances between 6 km and 10 km.
Logistics and rules
Mandatory kit is Level A - Basic, which includes a showerproof, windproof jacket; runners must bring the required items and have a means to carry them. Failure to have required items may lead to denied entry or disqualification; random checks may be carried out. Parking costs 3 euro per vehicle and is limited to about 80 outdoor spaces. Directions note the Glenview Hotel exit when travelling south on the N11 from Dublin. Prize giving and post-race food are at the outdoor living area; sandwiches and drinks will be provided and a food and coffee van will be on site. There is no early start for juniors. Volunteers must complete two non-running roles in the calendar year to qualify for end-of-year prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
