Event Overview

The Hardmoors 26.2 Roseberry is a trail running event held in Guisborough. It offers three distances: a trail marathon (26.2 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles), and a 10k. The event takes place on Sunday, 30th August 2026.

Distances and Course

The routes cover exposed areas of the North York Moors, with the marathon route reaching the highest part of the moors. Runners are responsible for their own navigation as the course is not marked. Participants must download, print, and carry the provided route descriptions and maps. GPX files are also available.

  • Marathon: Ascent of 4,850 feet, with a 10-hour time limit.
  • Half Marathon: Ascent of 3,200 feet, with a 5-hour time limit.
  • 10k: Ascent of 1,600 feet, with a 3-hour time limit.

Venue and Logistics

Registration and the event start/finish is at the Sea Cadets Hall on Belmangate in Guisborough (TS14 7AQ). Parking at the venue is very limited and reserved for marshals; participants are asked to use nearby public car parks.

Compulsory Kit

A specific kit list is mandatory for all distances. This includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, a spare long-sleeved base layer, 500ml of water, a printed route map and description, an emergency survival bag and foil blanket, and a whistle. Marathon runners must also carry a headtorch or torch. The policy is strict: no compulsory kit, no run.

Entry Information

Entry fees include a £1 donation to the Cleveland Way National Trail. Prices are listed as £49/£51 for the marathon, £36/£38 for the half marathon, and £28/£30 for the 10k (attached/unattached to UK Athletics). General entries open on 2nd November 2025. The event is cupless, so runners must bring their own cup for drinks at checkpoints and the finish.

Policies

The event has a no refund and no deferral policy. Once the race is full, entrants may sell their place to another runner via the entries system up to three weeks before the race. Changing distance is possible by contacting the organizer. Dogs are not permitted to run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
