Event overview
Hardmoors 26.2: Roseberry is a trail race day on Sunday 30 August 2026 based at Sea Cadets Hall, Belmangate, Guisborough, TS14 7AQ. The event offers three distances:
- 30.0 km (Trail Marathon)
- 14.5 km (Half Marathon)
- 9.0 km (10k)
The event has a maximum field of 400 participants. Recorded ascent for the courses is listed as 4,850 ft for the marathon, 3,200 ft for the half and 1,600 ft for the 10k. Time limits are 10 hours for the marathon, 5 hours for the half and 3 hours for the 10k. The Trail Marathon climbs to the highest part of the North York Moors and remains at height for several miles.
Logistics, kit and rules
Routes are not fully taped or signed. Competitors are provided with downloadable route maps, route descriptions and GPX files and must navigate themselves; printed maps and route descriptions are required to be carried. The event is cupless; participants should bring a personal cup for checkpoint and finish drinks. Parking at the registration venue is very limited and nearby car parks are recommended.
Compulsory kit is required for all three races and includes items such as a waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, 500 ml water, printed route map/description, survival bag and foil blanket; failure to carry mandatory kit may result in disqualification. The organiser provides foot sweepers and marshals at road crossings; retired runners should report to the next checkpoint for collection.
Entry fees (attached / unattached) are shown as: Marathon £49 / £51, Half Marathon £36 / £38, 10k £28 / £30. Entries open 2 November 2025 and close 14 August 2026. The organiser states there are no refunds or deferrals, but a refund-protection option is available at online checkout for an extra fee. Prize categories include 1st-3rd male and female, veteran categories (MV/FV 50, 60, 70, 80) and a non-binary prize where conditions are met.
