Trail Running in the North York Moors
Hardmoors 26.2: Roseberry is a trail running event based in Guisborough, forming part of a series of six trail marathons situated throughout the North York Moors and the Cleveland Heritage Coastline. The event offers three distinct distances:
- Trail Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10k Trail Race
All routes start and finish at the Sea Cadets Hall on Belmangate. The courses are not taped or signed; instead, participants are responsible for their own navigation using provided downloadable race route descriptions and maps. The Marathon route involves a climb to the highest part of the North York Moors.
Specific safety requirements are in place for all participants. Runners in the Marathon and Half Marathon must carry a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, 500ml of liquid, route maps, a survival bag, and a foil blanket. Participants in the 10k are required to carry a map, route description, survival bag, and foil blanket. The event enforces time limits for completion: 10 hours for the Marathon, 5 hours for the Half Marathon, and 3 hours for the 10k.
The course includes marshals at various road crossings and foot sweepers for all three distances. Prize categories are available for various age groups ranging from Open to over 80, as well as a non-binary category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
