Event Overview
The Llama Experience Ultra is a trail running event organized by Dirty Wolf Racing. It takes place on the private grounds of Earthshine Lodge. The event features 12-hour, 6-hour, and 3-hour timed events where participants run loops on a scenic trail course.
Course and Support
The trail course is marked with red ribbons and yellow arrows. It winds through the foggy, mountainous terrain that is home to the resident llamas. A single, well-stocked aid station will be provided on the course. It will offer food such as pickles, cereal, fruit, candy, pretzels, and bacon, along with drinks including Tailwind, water, and soda. First aid will be available on-site.
Participant Information
The event is open to runners and walkers, provided they can finish within their chosen event's time limit. Trekking poles are allowed. It is a private event with a strict policy: no dogs and no strollers are permitted.
Finisher Items
All finishers will receive a unique, handmade pottery medal crafted by BlueGill Pottery. They will also receive a race beanie.
Logistics
The event starts at Earthshine Lodge, located at 1600 Golden Rd in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. Bib pickup is on race day only. On-site lodging is available in limited quantities, with lodge rooms and cabins located near the start/finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
