Event overview
The Llama Experience Ultra is a timed trail event on March 14, 2026, held at Earthshine Lodge near Lake Toxaway, NC (1600 Golden Rd). The event offers timed loop formats rather than set distances:
- 12 Hour
- 6 Hour
- 3 Hour
The course is on private land and is marked with red ribbons and yellow arrows. Runners and walkers may participate if they can finish within the event time limits.
Course support and logistics
The course passes through mountain and foggy terrain where llamas reside; the llamas are present on the property. Aid station supplies include pickles, cereal, fruit, candy, pretzels, bacon, Tailwind, water, and soda. First aid will be available onsite. Trekking poles are permitted on course. The event is private and enforces a no-dogs, no-strollers policy except by prior exception. All finishers receive a handmade pottery medal and a race beanie. Limited onsite lodging is offered: eight lodge rooms with three beds each and two nearby cabins.
