The event is held in memory of Lisa Napoletano. A scholarship fund and a nonprofit named "Lisa Napoletano-Running with the Angels" have been established to award a scholarship to a member of the cross country or track and field teams, or to someone active in snowboarding, who display team spirit and academic values.
Location, course and logistics
The races start at the Jim Thorpe Train Station (One Susquehanna St, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229). The 5K run is an out-and-back course of 1.55 miles each way on the D@L Trail and the Lehigh Gorge Trail, starting south from the train station lot. The 5K walk uses the same course and is an untimed event that begins half an hour after the competitive 5K run. The 1 mile youth and 1 mile adult fun run are a 0.5 mile out-and-back course.
Overall winners are scored by gun time; age group winners and age-group ranking use chip time. Age-group finisher certificates for both the 5K and 1M are issued by email across standard age brackets.
