LIRRC Wednesday Night Summer Series
The LIRRC Wednesday Night Summer Series is a recurring athletic event held throughout the summer months at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York. The series begins in May and continues through August, providing participants with regular opportunities to run or walk in a community setting. The event takes place rain or shine, starting and finishing near Parking Lot 2 at Field 2.
Participants can choose from several distances and event formats across the series schedule:
- 5 km Run/Walk
- 1 mile Run/Walk
- Kids Fun Run
Most Wednesday nights feature a 5 km course. The eleventh night in August specifically hosts a 1 mile run/walk, which serves as a USATF-LI Grand Prix event and is open to participants of all abilities. A specific kids fun run is also available earlier in the evening, where young participants receive a ribbon.
Amenities provided at the race site include water stations, refreshments, and music. Post-race food is supplied to participants after their run. The event utilizes electronic timing, providing live online, email, or text results along with finish line photos and video. Awards are presented to the top male and female overall finishers, as well as the top three male and female participants in age groups ranging from 14 and under to 80 plus.
