About the race
The Bay Shore Engine Company Run to the Pump is a community running event in Brightwaters, NY that includes a 5K run/walk and a separate fun run. The event benefits the members of the Bay Shore Engine Company No. 1, a volunteer not-for-profit fire service that provides fire prevention and suppression to the Bay Shore and Brightwaters area.
Event amenities and post-race activities include a one-of-a-kind race shirt for the first 175 registrants with sizes guaranteed by 6/15, beer served by a brewery to be announced, a sponsorship after-party at Walker Beach in Brightwaters, and food provided by the Impractical Smokers food truck. Additional on-site offerings listed for the post-race period include refreshments, raffles, free stretching from Elite Strength LI, and an award ceremony for top finishers.
Awards are given to the top two male and female finishers in the separate categories Police, EMS, Fire Department, and Healthcare Provider (these placements are also eligible for age-group awards). Top three male and female finishers will be recognized in the following age groups: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70 and over.
Early bib pickup is scheduled for July 17 at the Bay Shore Fire Department headquarters, 195 5th Ave, Bay Shore, NY. In-person pickup is also available at the event.
