Lightning Bolt 10k : Langley Burrell, Chippenham
The Lightning Bolt 10k is one race in a five-event series held in Langley Burrell near Chippenham. The course has a total elevation of around 14 metres and is officially measured and registered with UKA/Run Britain. The distance is 10 km and the event uses chip timing with distance markers placed every mile.
Pacers from 35 to 75 minutes are available on the course. The organisers offer optional medals at registration so runners can choose a lower entry fee without a medal. The event includes on-site toilets and race photography.
Club competition prizes are awarded. The mixed team prize is based on the category positions of the top three male and top three female finishers who count for the team score. Male and female team prizes are decided from the fastest four finishers in each gender. Additional awards include a prize for the club that brings the most runners and a discretionary spirit award.
Elite places are reserved for athletes meeting set performance criteria (male sub 31 minutes, female sub 34 minutes); allocation is handled by the event team. The route is rural; runners are asked to take care around horses and riders and to follow on-course stewarding instructions. The event is suitable for visually impaired runners if organisers are informed in advance. Following recent assessments, the event is not suitable for wheelchair athletes.
A time limit of 1 hour 15 minutes applies; after this time marshals will be removed and participants should make their own way back to the finish. Registration and venue details are based at Langley Burrell Village Hall, SN15 4LL, a short distance from M4 junction 17. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
