Event Overview

The Amberaid 30 Trail Race and Petit Raid is a trail running event taking place on Saturday, 17th October 2026. The start and finish location is Ashover Village Hall in Derbyshire's Amber Valley, near the eastern edge of the Peak District.

The Routes

The event offers two distances:

  • Amberaid 30: A 31-mile trail run on a figure-of-eight route through the Amber Valley. The course uses undulating countryside paths, trails, woodland, and offers expansive views.
  • Petit Raid: A 20-mile route that covers the northern loop of the Amberaid course.

The route is largely unmarked, though some tricky navigation sections are marked. Route notes and GPX files are provided for download, and participants may use their own paper maps.

Event Details

Registration takes place at Ashover Village Hall. The event has a 9-hour time limit. Runners on the 31-mile route must reach Checkpoint 2 (Wessington, 13.5 miles) by 12:30 pm; those arriving later will be redirected to the 20-mile Petit Raid route.

Checkpoints provide water, and some also offer sweet and savoury food. Medical cover is provided on the course and at the race headquarters. Every finisher receives a medal, and there are prizes for the first male and female in each race. Light refreshments are available at the finish.
