Amberaid 30 Trail Race and Petit Raid
Amberaid is a trail running event in the Amber Valley, Derbyshire, close to the eastern edge of the Peak District. It offers two route options:
- Amberaid: 31 miles
- Petit Raid (Northern Loop): 20 miles
The event is based at Ashover Village Hall, Milken Lane, Ashover, Chesterfield, Derbys S45 0BA, with free parking at the venue. The 31 mile course describes a figure of eight through rural terrain and includes undulating paths, climbs and descents, open views and woodland trails.
The route is largely unmarked; a couple of trickier navigation sections are marked. Organisers provide route notes and GPX files, and event information notes that a paper map can be used as backup.
Checkpoints and aid: every checkpoint provides water and checkpoints 1, 2 and 4 also offer food. Checkpoint locations and distances are: CP1 Tupton 7 miles (both routes), CP2 Wessington 13.5 miles (both routes), CP3 Fritchley 20 miles (Amberaid only), CP4 Wessington 25.5 miles (Amberaid only). The event sets a nine hour time limit; runners on the Amberaid route must have left CP2 by 12.30pm or will be redirected onto the Petit Raid route.
Every finisher receives a medal. Prizes are awarded to the first male and first female in each race. Medic cover is provided on the course and at the race headquarters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
