Lexington Legacy 5k
The Lexington Legacy 5k is an annual community run/walk organized by the Lexington High School Cross Country and Track & Field program. The event began as an alumni race in 2008 on a course the team has used since 1970. Proceeds support the LHS Cross Country / Track & Field team, which includes nearly 250 boys and girls.
Course details note a nearly all-road USATF certified layout that was extended to the full 5 km distance in 2014. The route begins and ends just behind the Little League baseball diamond at Lincoln Field, 100 Lincoln St, Lexington, MA, and travels out to Worthen Road through the neighborhood around Lexington High School. The middle portion of the course includes some challenging hills. The course layout is spectator friendly: spectators can view the start, walk about 400 meters to the one-mile mark, then watch participants again just after the two-mile mark before returning to Lincoln Field for the finish.
Registration opens June 25 and closes November 27. Fees listed are pre-registration $35, day-of $40, students and seniors $25, and Town of Lexington employees $25; listed prices do not include any additional online processing fee. Participants who register before November 7 receive the official race T-shirt; T-shirts are also available for purchase for $20. Race bibs serve as entry for a post-race raffle. Race day photos are taken and published free to the public. Strollers and dogs are allowed but are asked to start at the back of the pack.
