Lastest Not Fastest

Lastest Not Fastest is a last person standing trail race held on Hamilton Island in Washington, in the Columbia River Gorge near North Bonneville. The course is a roughly 4.13-mile loop on primarily flat trails with about 103 feet of elevation gain and a single hill of about 30 feet.

Runners depart every hour, on the hour, to complete the loop and must return to the start/finish area within 60 minutes to remain in the race. Completing a loop faster provides more rest time before the next loop; leaving the course or failing to finish a loop within the hour eliminates a participant. All participants have their distance recorded and posted after the event.

There is one aid station at the start/finish area. It is stocked with gels, electrolyte drink, water, snacks and night-time hot options such as broths and other warm food beginning in the evening. The layout allows runners to access vehicles between loops, and crew support is allowed at designated parking areas though crew cannot access runners while they are on the course.

The route runs alongside the Columbia River, through forested sections near the Bonneville Dam, crosses a road midloop and passes near the town edge before returning to the riverfront trail and the parking area. The trails remain open to the public during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
