Event overview
Lastest Not Fastest is a last-person-standing trail race held on October 3, 2026, on Hamilton Island near North Bonneville in the Columbia River Gorge, Washington. Runners depart together each hour and continue completing loops until one runner remains. Capacity is 125. Registration opens April 1 and closes September 25. Early and tiered entry fees are listed for registration periods in April, May-June, and June-September. All participants have their distance posted to Ultrasignup; there is no DNF unless the first lap is not completed.
Course, rules and logistics
The course is a 4.13-mile loop on mostly flat trails with about 103 feet of total gain and a single hill of roughly 30 feet. The route runs alongside the Columbia River, passes near the Bonneville Dam, crosses a road, skirts the southern edge of North Bonneville, and returns along riverside trail and parking areas. Trails and parking are open to the public, so other users such as walkers and fishermen may be encountered.
Runners must start each loop on the hour and may not leave the course and rejoin later within that hour; leaving the course during an hour ends the entrant’s race. It is allowed to carry aid on a loop and pause on course, but crews cannot access runners while they are on the course. Crew space is provided in the parking loop; small tents up to 10' x 10' are permitted. The aid station at the start/finish offers hydration, gels, snacks, and hot real food in the evening/night. There is no overnight parking the Friday before the race. The event location is about 46 miles east of Portland. Awards include a special glass for non-winning finishers and sponsor prizes for the overall winner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
