About the race
The Running Scared 5K and 13K is a Halloween-themed road race held October 10, 2026 at Captain William Clark Park in Washougal, WA. Costumes are encouraged and the event includes both in-person and virtual options.

All in-person participants (except those who select no shirt) receive a long sleeve race shirt and a custom finisher medal. Participants who register by September 30 are guaranteed race swag in their selected size; thereafter items are available while supplies last.
Awards are presented for the Top Three Male and Female Overall finishers in both the 5K and the 13K, plus Top Three in Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Masters Overall categories. Top three finishers in the traditional five year age groups receive awards in each distance. Special recognition is given to the Top Three Male and Female finishers of the Deadly Double.
The course begins and finishes at Captain William Clark Park and follows the paved river trail along the river. The organizer describes the route as flat and fast. The event lists a local nonprofit, The Kelly Johnson Foundation, as its charity partner. Virtual participants can submit results online and may be eligible for awards.
