The Official Las Cruces Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
The event is a volunteer-produced running event held at the LCPS Field of Dreams in Las Cruces. It offers three distances run on closed courses, with all races beginning and ending inside the Field of Dreams track.
Distances include:
- 1 mile
- 5K
- 10K
The 5K follows Motel Boulevard and Bruins Road using wide streets. The 10K adds portions on the City of Las Cruces Mesilla Drain and Outfall Channel trails before rejoining the 5K course. The course has about 11 feet of elevation gain and is run on paved surfaces. Events use chip timing.
Entry details note a registration fee for paid entries and free entry for runners age 14 and under. A group discount of five dollars per person applies to groups of four or more who register at the same time; free youth entrants cannot be included to obtain a group discount and must be registered separately from paying runners. Paid participants receive a themed bib and are scheduled to receive a t-shirt or beanie; free participants receive a themed bib.
Participant amenities and extras include race photos tagged by bib number, a finisher video, free snacks and drinks, a slice of pumpkin pie with a bib coupon, prizes for best costume and largest team, and a donation drive for El Caldito.
