Course and rules
All swim distances are out-and-back courses. The 1.2 mile swim goes 0.6 miles out to a turnaround buoy; the 2.4 mile swim repeats that loop twice. The cutoff time for the 2.4 mile swim is 2 hours. The Swim+Run pairs a 1/2 mile swim with a 2 mile trail run through the Lake Gardner Trail System; shoes are required because part of the run is a rooty trail. Transition is at Lake Gardner Beach.
Participants must be at least 12 years old. Youth under 15 may not enter the 2.4 mile swim. No snorkels, fins, or hand paddles are allowed; swim buoys are permitted. Awards are given for top three male and female wetsuit and non-wetsuit finishers in each swim distance, and top three male and female Swim+Run finishers. No double dipping.
Safety, fees and amenities
The event provides kayakers, paddleboarders, and emergency boats for athlete safety. Water temperature guidelines follow FINA thresholds: lower limit 16 degrees C (60.8 F), wetsuits optional at 14 degrees C (57.2 F), and cancellation at temperatures below 12 degrees C (53.6 F). Entry fees vary by date. Registered athletes by May 15 receive a custom event t-shirt; all swimmers receive a custom swim cap.
