Lakeland Paws: Dogs @ Dodd Double Header
The Lakeland Paws series concludes its fourth season with an event held in Dodd Wood. This race is the first part of a double header weekend, followed by a separate event at Whinlatter. The course consists of a mix of forest roads and trails, featuring a descent on the final section. Participants can view Bassenthwaite Lake and the Northern Fells from various points along the route.
The event follows an individual start format to provide spacing for all participants and their dogs. While the races are designed for canicross, runners are also permitted to participate without a dog. For those running with dogs, animals must be in a suitable harness; equipment is available to borrow on-site if needed. Due to the width of the forest trails, runners are permitted to compete with up to two dogs.
Participants can choose between two fully marked course distances:
- 8 km - A loop featuring 370 meters of total ascent.
- 5 km - A shorter route with 210 meters of ascent.
The event is chip timed, and GPX files are provided for navigation. Registration is open to individuals aged 16 and older. The venue is located at Dodd Wood, and the event utilizes a pre-entry system for all participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
