Event Overview
The Lakeland Paws: Dogs @ Dodd Double Header is the first event in the finale weekend of the 4th series of Lakeland Paws. It is a canicross race where participants run with dogs, though runners are also welcome to compete without dogs. The event takes place in Dodd Wood.
Course and Distances
Two course options are available:
- An 8 km loop with 370m of ascent.
- A 5 km option with 210m of ascent. The route is fully marked and offers views across Bassenthwaite Lake to the Northern Fells. The terrain is a mix of forest roads and trails, with some narrower sections and a relatively steep final descent. GPX files are available to download.
Participation and Rules
The event uses chip timing. For those running with dogs, a suitable harness is required; harnesses are available to borrow. A maximum of two dogs per runner is allowed. The event has a minimum age limit of 16.
Logistics
The event is part of a Double Header weekend, with a separate event at Whinlatter on the following day. Individual starts are used to give each dog space at the beginning. Entry is managed through an online system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
