Lakeland Paws: Dogs@Dodd Double Header
The first event in the finale weekend of the fifth Lakeland Paws series is set in Dodd Wood. The course is fully marked and offers views across Bassenthwaite Lake to the Northern Fells. The route runs on a mix of forest roads and trails and is mostly on wide trails.
Individual starts are used so each athlete and dog has space at the start. Two dogs per runner are permitted on the wider sections, but some parts are narrower and the final descent is relatively steep. Dogs must be run on a suitable harness; harnesses are available to borrow from Non Stop Dog Wear. Runners may compete without dogs.
There are two course options:
- 8K loop, 370 m of ascent
- 5K route, 210 m of vertical gain
The event is chip timed and will be marked. GPX files are available for download. Entry fee is £20. The event has a minimum age of 16 and forms part of a double header weekend that includes a second event at Whinlatter. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
