Event overview
Lakeland Paws: Dogs @ Dodd Double Header takes place on Saturday 9 May 2026 at Dodd Wood, CA12 4QE. It is part of the finale weekend of the 4th season of Lakeland Paws canicross races and forms the Saturday event of a Double Header; the following event is on Sunday 10 May at Whinlatter. Entry fee is £19.00. Entries open 25 July 2025 and close 8 May 2026. Minimum age is 16 or older.
Course and race format
The event is a canicross format with individual starts for each athlete. Courses are a mix of forest roads and trails and are fully marked. The route provides views across Bassenthwaite lake to the Northern Fells. Chip timing is used and GPX files are available for download.
- 8K (370 m ascent)
- 5K (210 m ascent)
Most of the course is on wide trails, which allows two dogs per runner, but some sections are narrower and the final descent is relatively steep. Dogs must be run on a suitable harness; harnesses are available to borrow from Non Stop Dog Wear. Participants may also compete without dogs.
