Lakeland Paws: Dogs@Dodd Double Header
The event is the first meeting of the finale weekend for the fifth Lakeland Paws series, held in Dodd Wood. The course is fully marked and runs on a mix of forest roads and trails, with views across Bassenthwaite Lake to the Northern Fells. It follows a canicross format with individual starts so each dog has space to start safely. Runners may compete without dogs.
Most of the route is on wide trails, so two dogs per runner are permitted on most sections, but there are narrower parts and a relatively steep final descent; runners are asked to keep to their own pace. Dogs must be run on a suitable harness; harnesses are available to borrow from Non Stop Dog Wear.
The event offers two route options:
- 8K with 370 m of ascent
- 5K with 210 m of ascent
The event is chip timed and marked, and GPX files are available for download. The published minimum age to enter is 16 or older and the entry fee is £20. The event is part of a double header weekend in the Lakeland Paws series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
