L100 Recce 1: Coniston - Buttermere is a recce day for the Montane Lakeland 50 & 100 series, scheduled for 23 November 2025 at John Ruskin School, Lake Road, Coniston, Cumbria, LA21 8EW. The event is organised by The Lakeland 50 & 100. Entries open 25 September 2025 and close 20 November 2025. Minimum age is 18 or older. The entry fee is £30 and the fee includes coach transport, medical support and basic refreshments at checkpoints. Entry is intended only for competitors who have been confirmed a place in the Lakeland 100/50 2026.
Route and requirements
This recce covers the first part of the 100 course (not the 50) and is 26 miles from Coniston to Buttermere. The route includes terrain such as Black Sail Pass and Scarth Gap and may lead slower participants to finish in the dark. Full kit is required as specified by the event organisers and there are checkpoint cut off times, so participants must be fit enough to meet those cut offs before starting.
