Lake Vista Lunatics Run
Lake Vista Lunatics Run is a trail endurance event held at Deam Lake State Recreation Area in Borden, IN. The event offers timed endurance running and a single-lap fun run on a marked loop course.
Available formats:
- 4.167 mile lap
- 6 hour endurance run
- 12 hour endurance run
The loop rises to a summit with sections reported around 25 to 30 percent grade. The course includes creek crossings that can often be hopped, occasional downed trees, and rooty and rocky technical terrain near the top. Runners pass a viewpoint at the summit and descend on the other side.
Endurance competitors complete repeated laps and return to the crew area or start area to refill bottles and resupply nutrition between laps. New laps begin on the hour mark and this pattern continues for the duration chosen by each runner. Fun runners complete one lap only. Final placement for the endurance runs is based on total time and pace with no missed laps allowed.
Participants are expected to bring personal nutrition and hydration and may bring family or crew. Organizers will keep some electrolytes and nutrition as backup. Registration is limited to fewer than 50 spots before a wait list is used. Registered entrants receive a finisher medal for completing the event, a Lake Vista baseball cap, and prizes for top male and female endurance champions along with door or random prizes.
