Lake Takanassee Summer Series
The Lake Takanassee Summer Series is a weekly running series established in 1964 by Shore A.C. It takes place on the perimeter of Lake Takanassee over five Monday evenings in July and early August.
The program includes several race distances:
- 5K four laps around the lake
- 1500 m one lap of the lake, about 109 meters shy of a mile
- 2 miles final week distance for all ages
The kids 1500 m run is held as a single lap around the lake and is scheduled to occur before the 5K race. Medals are awarded to the top three overall finishers and to age group winners in the 5K. The one mile kids result recognizes the top three girls and the top three boys, and ribbons are given to all kids run participants. At the end of the series, overall series awards are presented to consistent top performers.
Parking is available behind St. Michael's Church at 800 Ocean Avenue in Long Branch, New Jersey, with access via South Lake Road. Race results are posted one to two days after each event on the Shore A.C. website. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
