Lake Takanassee Summer Series
The Lake Takanassee Summer Series is a weekly running series organized by Shore A.C. Established in 1964, it takes place on the perimeter of Lake Takanassee in Long Branch, New Jersey. Events are held on five Monday nights: July 6, July 13, July 20, July 27, and August 3.
Races held around the lake include:
- 5K - four laps around the lake
- 1 mile kids run - one lap around the lake
- 2 mile - final-week distance available to all ages
Medals are awarded to the top three overall finishers and to age group winners in the 5K. The kids one mile awards the top three girls and top three boys, and all kids run participants receive ribbons. At the conclusion of the series, overall series awards recognize consistent top performers.
Parking is available behind Saint Michael's Church at 800 Ocean Avenue; entrants are asked to access the site via South Lake Road. Results are posted one to two days after each race on the Shore A.C. website. Registration fees for events in the series range from $5 to $10.
