The Holmdel Classic
The Holmdel Classic is an end of year trail race held at Holmdel Park in Monmouth County, New Jersey and organized by MissionCleanWater. The event offers a roughly 50 kilometer option and a shorter "Halfish" option. All proceeds support MissionCleanWater, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on long term clean water projects and system maintenance.
The course is a single loop just over 4.5 miles. It is about 95% trail and double track with 584 feet of elevation per lap. The Halfish distance completes three laps and the 50 kmish distance completes seven laps. Surfaces include grass, dirt, rocks, roots, gravel, and some pavement. Notable features include a quarter mile uphill from the start, a section called The Bowl around mile 1.5, and several sustained up and down segments.
Timing is handled with RFID and each lap is recorded. A strict eight hour cutoff applies. An aid station is located at the start and finish location offering drinks, snacks, hydration, and first aid; there are no aid stations on the course. Runners may carry their own supplies. Spectators are allowed and pacers are not permitted on course.
The race will proceed in winter conditions unless Monmouth County parks declares it unsafe. There are no rain dates and no refunds, though deferral to other 2026 races may be offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
