The Holmdel Classic

The Holmdel Classic is a trail running event held in Holmdel Park, Holmdel, New Jersey. The event is organized by MCW Ultras and proceeds support MissionCleanWater, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds sustainable clean water systems, monthly inspections, and 24 hour emergency response.

The course is a single loop of just over 4.5 miles with varied terrain and features:

• 50 kmish - 7 loops of a just over 4.5 mile loop
• Halfish - 3 loops of the same course

Course surface is about 95% trail and double track with a variety of grass, dirt, rocks, roots, gravel, and short pavement sections. Elevation gain is listed as 584 feet per lap. The route includes a notable feature called The Bowl and uses signage, pink flagging tape, and cones for navigation; participants are instructed not to follow other trail markings.

Timing is by RFID and each completed lap is recorded. An aid station at the start/finish will provide drinks, snacks, hydration, and basic first aid; there will be no staffed aid stations on the course and no prepared meals. Spectators are allowed but pacers are not. A strict eight hour cutoff applies to all participants. Organizers note potential winter weather and state the race will continue unless Monmouth County Parks declares conditions unsafe.
