Lake Summit 10 Mile Run/Hike
The Lake Summit 10 Mile Run/Hike takes place in the Southern Appalachian Mountains near Tuxedo and Flat Rock, North Carolina. The event starts and finishes at Tuxedo Park in Zirconia. The route circles the shores of Lake Summit in a counter-clockwise direction, providing views of the water and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The course covers a total distance of 10 miles. Participants navigate a route consisting of 90% packed gravel and dirt roads. The terrain is largely flat with some rolling sections and one short hill, resulting in a total elevation gain of approximately 575 feet. The surrounding environment features lakefront homes and wooded areas, often displaying fall foliage during the time of the event.
The course is clearly marked with directional arrows at all intersections to guide participants. The timing for the event is recorded via chips, providing live splits and final rankings for those participating.

Parking is available on-site at Tuxedo Park near the start and finish area. Following the completion of the distance, a pancake breakfast is provided for all finishers.
