About the race
Doggone Dash takes place on September 13, 2026, at Mills River Park in Mills River, NC. The event is organized by the North Carolina Mountain Trail Runners (NCMTR) and benefits The Street Dog Coalition, a group that provides free veterinary care to pets of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The course is a flat, fast loop around the park that offers frequent views of other participants. Options for the event include:
- 5K loop around Mills River Park
- 1 mile Woof Walk new for 2026
Parking is available on site and supported by the Town of Mills River. Organizers advise arriving at least 30 minutes before the event to pick up bibs and prepare. Timing will be manual; bibs are not chipped and are used for visual confirmation at the finish, so numbers should be visible for the entire race. NCMTR members may participate free through a member code provided via their accounts. Entry fees are listed between USD 28.50 and USD 33.50, with multiple registration options available before the listed registration close date.
