Ecusta Trail Races
The Ecusta Trail Races are an inaugural community event planned by iDaph Events to coincide with the opening of the Ecusta Trail near Hendersonville, North Carolina. The event is presented by Aetna and is described as a celebration of more than a decade of local advocacy that supported development of the trail.
Organizers plan multiple race distances, subject to government approvals. The trail itself is a 19 mile rail-trail corridor linking Hendersonville and Brevard and passing through Laurel Park, Etowah, Horseshoe, Penrose, and Pisgah Forest. The route travels through fields, forests, streams, and Blue Ridge views and is intended as a multi-use path for runners, walkers, cyclists, families, and people of varied abilities.
The project moved forward after more than 15 years of community advocacy and with support from local donations, grants, and groups such as Conserving Carolina and Friends of the Ecusta Trail. The trail is described as a link between towns that can support local businesses and provide outdoor space for activity and wellness. Race date, distances, and final event details are pending government approvals.
