Happy Valley Humdinger - Lenoir, North Carolina
The Happy Valley Humdinger is an annual fall running event held in Happy Valley, Lenoir, NC. The main race is a point to point 5K that travels through the valley and follows the Yadkin River before finishing at the Happy Valley Filling Station. The course surface is roughly 90% hardtop and 10% natural surface; most of the route is on a low traffic secondary hardtop road and the course also crosses a mowed grass field.
The event includes pre-race packet pickup and on-site registration and packet pickup at the start/finish area. A shuttle service operates between the start area and the finish area, and a gear check is available for runners to transfer clothing and other items to the finish. The finish area hosts an after-race gathering with music, wood-fired pizza, and a craft beer pour for every registered runner age 21 and over.
Additional on-course and event features include a costume contest with awards for adults and kids, and a non-timed kids fun run that awards medals and custom bibs to every participant. Individual awards cover overall top finishers, masters, and age-group placings, with medals and gift certificate prizes for top positions.
