Lake Merced 4.5M Summer Series
The Lake Merced 4.5M Summer Series is a 12 week series of races held each Thursday evening between June 4 and August 20 at Lake Merced Main Parking Lot, Lake Merced & Sunset Blvds., San Francisco, CA. Each race covers a distance of 4.5 miles and uses the main parking lot as the start and finish location. Free parking is available at the race start.
Entry is race day registration only; pre-registration is not available. The entry fee is $2 per race, an increase attributed to rising permit costs. Organizers request exact change or small bills and note that coins are not accepted.
Series scoring awards age division points across the 12 weeks. Final awards are handed out at the conclusion of the series; competitors must participate in a minimum of six races to be eligible. Awards are given three-deep in seven separate age divisions for male and female divisions.
Participants are encouraged to reuse their bib number and safety pins each week as part of a reuse initiative. If a participant cannot complete the course within one hour, they are asked to self-time and arrange to start earlier to fit within the series timing guidelines.
