1st Annual Lafayette Ostomy 5K

The Lafayette Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K takes place at Moncus Park in Lafayette, Louisiana. This event is held in celebration of World Ostomy Day and serves as a benefit for the United Ostomy Associations of America, a non-profit organization supporting individuals living with an ostomy or continent diversion.

Participants can register for the following distances:

  • 5 km Fun Run/Walk
  • 5 km Kid's Fun Run (Ages 12 and under)

The event is designed for families and includes music, local vendors, and food. Participants receive a race bib with a timing chip, a event t-shirt, and a bag containing promotional items and educational materials. A unique feature of this race is the inclusion of an optional ostomy pouch in the registration bags. Non-ostomate runners are encouraged to wear the pouch during the event to gain perspective and promote empathy for those living with an ostomy.

Moncus Park features ADA-accessible pathways and handicap parking. General parking is available on-site for a daily or hourly fee. Prizes are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female ostomates. Participants have the option to form or join race teams and participate in fundraising programs to support the charity's mission. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
