Kirroughtree Hillbilly MTB Duathlon : event overview
The event is a duathlon based at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre in Newton Stewart, DG8 7BE, using trails in Galloway Forest Park. The long course comprises a run followed by a mountain bike section that follows the Seven Stanes Red route known as The Twister. The run uses walkers paths and forest road. Start, transition and finish are at the visitor centre. All routes will be signed and supported by marshals with radio coverage and mobile first aid. Chip timing will record split run and bike times.
Distances:
- Long course: 10 km run, 18 km mountain bike
- Short course: 5 km run, approximately 9.36 km blue graded bike route on fire roads and blue trails
Entry and category information notes that entrants must be aged 16 or older and that the event has an overall entry limit of 300. Entry fees listed are £30 for solo and £60 for pairs. Field parking carries a forestry charge of £4 payable on the day by cash or card. Entries open 1 March and close 10 June. Refunds are available up to one month before the event minus a £5 handling fee; within one month no refunds are available. Transfers are permitted within the month before the event by email.
E bikes are permitted only in specified open pair and solo categories and must comply with UK EAPC regulations, maximum 250 watts and maximum speed 15.5 mph; non compliance may lead to disqualification. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
