Kirroughtree Hillbilly MTB Duathlon

The event takes place on Sunday 14 June 2026 at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre in Newton Stewart, within Galloway Forest Park in South West Scotland. It uses forest roads, walkers paths and waymarked mountain bike trails around the visitor centre.

The main long course consists of a run leg followed by a mountain bike leg. The run follows walkers paths and forest road while the bike section follows the Seven Stanes Red route known as The Twister. A short course runs at the same time with a shorter run and a new blue graded bike route that is mainly on fire road and several blue-graded trails.

Distances:

  • 10 km run then 18 km mountain bike (long course)
  • 5 km run then about 9.36 km mountain bike (short course)

Start, transition and finish are at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre. Routes will be signed and supported by marshals with radio coverage and mobile first aid. Chip timing will be used with split run and bike times. Team options include solo male and female entries or teams of two with male, female or mixed pairings; team format is one runner and one biker. Entrants must be aged 16 or older. Entry limit is 300. Entries open 1 March and close 10 June 2026. Standard entry fees listed are £30 for solo and £60 for pairs. Field parking incurs a forestry charge of £4 payable on the day.

E-bikes are permitted only in specified open pair categories and must comply with UK EAPC law with maximum 250 watts power and maximum speed of 15.5 mph. Refunds and transfers follow the organiser policy with refunds reduced by £5 up to one month before the event and no refunds within one month.
