The Kirroughtree Hillbilly MTB Duathlon is held at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre in Newton Stewart within Galloway Forest Park. The event offers a long course and a short course that run on marked forest trails and roads, with transition and finish at the visitor centre.
- Long course: 10 km run then 18 km mountain bike
- Short course: 5 km run then 9.36 km bike
The long run follows walkers paths and forest road. The long bike uses the Seven Stanes Red route called The Twister. The short bike is a new blue-graded route made mainly of fire road and four blue-graded bike trails. All routes will be signed and supported by marshals with radio coverage and mobile first aid. Chip timing is used with split run and bike times.
Entry categories include solo male and female and team pairs in male, female and mixed options. Long course age categories include Senior/Open, Veteran 40+, Grand Veteran 50+ and Super Veteran 60+. Short course age categories include under 16-21, Under 40 and Over 40. E-bikes are permitted only in specified pair and open categories and must comply with UK EAPC law (maximum 250 watts power, maximum 15.5 mph); failure to comply may result in disqualification.
Entrants must be aged 16 or over. Entries are limited to 300. Entry fees and refund rules apply; refunds are available up to one month before the event minus a £5 administration fee, with no refunds within one month. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
