Event Overview
The Kirkintilloch Aquathlon, Youth & Adult (including Go Tri), takes place on 15 March 2026 at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre, Woodhead Park, Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire. It is organised by Glasgow Triathlon Club and governed by Triathlon Scotland.
The event is an aquathlon with a pool swim followed immediately by a run. Participants compete in heats arranged by age group. The run takes place around the park in front of the leisure centre.
Race categories are Female and Open. Only people who are female sex at birth may enter the Female category. All individuals, including transgender people, may enter the Open category, in line with the British Triathlon Transgender Policy.
All entrants receive a race memento and a snack at the finish. Electronic chip timing is used. Trophies are awarded to the first three places in each age group, and event photographers are present, with images offered free of charge.
Age Groups and Distances
Age on 31 December 2026 decides the age group. Distances are:
- TriStar Start (age 8) - 50 m swim, 600 m run
- TriStar 1 (age 9-10) - 150 m swim, 1500 m run
- TriStar 2 (age 11-12) - 250 m swim, 2000 m run
- TriStar 3 (age 13-14) - 400 m swim, 3000 m run
- Youth (age 15-16) - 400 m swim, 3000 m run
- Adult incl Go Tri (age 17+) - 400 m swim, 3000 m run
The adult heat is split into Go Tri for those new to the sport and Experienced for more practiced participants.
Athletes with disability may contact the organiser to discuss possible accommodation of their entry. A British Triathlon Race Pass is required for non-members, with different fees for those aged 24 and under and those older than 24. A partial refund is available for withdrawals before 1 March 2026.
