Event Format
The Iron Keep 5 Hour Siege Run is a five-hour endurance challenge. The goal is to complete as many full laps as possible on a multi-lap route that starts and finishes in a village centre. Only laps started before the final bell will count. Participants can enter in three categories: Solo, Pairs, or Quads (teams of four). Team categories operate as a relay, with only one runner from the team on the course at a time.
The Experience
The event is set within and around a medieval-style village. Runners begin in daylight and finish under torchlight. As the sun sets, torches are lit along the course and traditional music plays in the square. The village square serves as the event hub, featuring a tavern-style aid station, team camp areas, live announcements, music, and lap counting.
Fancy Dress and Awards
Fancy dress is strongly encouraged, with medieval, fantasy, or creative themes welcome. Prizes are awarded for Best Individual Costume, Best Team Theme, and a People's Champion chosen by crowd vote. Winners receive thematic titles instead of medals, such as Iron Keep Champion (most laps overall), Lord & Lady of the Keep (solo winners), and People’s Champion.
Location and Details
The event takes place at Carron Valley, specifically at Duncarron Medieval Village. The event date is 4 April. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
