The Iron Keep - 5 Hour Siege Run
The Iron Keep is a five hour endurance event held in and around a medieval-style village at Carron Valley, with the event HQ located at Duncarron Medieval Village. The objective is to complete as many full laps as possible within the five hour time limit; only laps started before the final bell count toward totals. Entrants may compete solo or as part of a team.
The course is a multi-lap route with the start and finish in the village centre. Runners pass spectators, team camps, and the central race hub on every lap. As daylight gives way to night, torches are lit along the course and traditional music plays in the square. The village square serves as the event hub, featuring a tavern-style aid station, team camp and rest areas, live announcements and music, and clear lap counting with race updates.
There are three entry categories: Solo, Pairs and Quads. Team entries run relay-style with only one team member on course at a time. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged; costumes must be safe to run in and comply with race kit rules. Prizes include Best Individual Costume, Best Team Theme and a People’s Champion chosen by crowd vote. Winners in performance categories receive themed titles such as Iron Keep Champion and Lord and Lady of the Keep. Entries open 1 February and pre-registration is available. Entrants must be aged between 16 and 100 on the event date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
