Kirkbride Half Marathon
The Kirkbride Half Marathon is a road race held in Cumbria, starting and finishing at The White Heather Hotel on the Old Airfield in Kirkbride. The course is officially measured and certified by the Association of UK Course Measurers, ensuring an accurate distance for participants.
The route consists of a half marathon distance (13.1 miles) and is designed as a flat course with minimal elevation. The layout involves two distinct loops. The first is a 5.3-mile loop that passes through Kirkbride and Newton Arlosh. The second is a longer 7.8-mile loop that also passes through Kirkbride before extending further and returning through Newton Arlosh to the finish line. The race takes place on quiet country roads and is described as a high-speed route due to its lack of significant hills.
On-site facilities at the race headquarters include toilets for both men and women, as well as a designated baggage lay-down area. Ample parking is available directly at the hotel site. Water stations are positioned at approximately the 4-mile and 8-mile markers, where bottled water is provided on tables for runners to collect.
Participants receive their race numbers and timing chips during the registration period on the morning of the event. Results are processed electronically and made available online shortly after the race begins. The event follows UKA rules, and a full risk assessment is displayed at the headquarters.
