Kickin' Up the Dust 5K
Kickin' Up the Dust 5K is scheduled for October 3, 2026, at Fox Ranch in Plano, Illinois. The event is western themed and takes place on open ranch property and the surrounding countryside, with a course that winds through the site.
The event is a timed 5K using RD timing. Finishers receive a Woodie medal. Registered participants receive swag items that include a $5 coupon redeemable at each of two partner restaurants, assorted treats, and additional surprise items. Shirts and other swag will be available for purchase on site; proceeds from on-site sales will support a charity fundraising goal.
The price is listed as $20 until September 1, 2026; the registration price increases after September 1, 2026 at 12:00am CDT. The race was previously postponed and has been rescheduled to the October 3, 2026 date.
After the finish there will be music, photos, ranch-style mingling, and drinks available for purchase. The event includes a costume contest labeled Best Dressed with a bottle of wine awarded to the winner. Additional awards include a drink ticket for first place, a cowbell for tenth place, and a roll of toilet paper cardboard tube for the last-place finisher.
