Kickin' Up the Dust 5K
Kickin' Up the Dust is a western themed 5K event held at Fox Ranch in Plano, Illinois. The in-person race on October 3, 2026 takes place on ranch property and surrounding countryside, with a course that winds through open fields. A virtual 5K option runs through early November 2026.
The event uses RD timing for race results. Participants receive a finishers Woodie medal and assorted swag items, including a $5 coupon valid at two partner restaurants, treats, and other small surprises. Shirts and additional swag will be available for sale on site to raise funds for charity. After the race there will be drinks for purchase, music, photos, and on-site mingling.
Prizes include a Best Dressed costume award with a bottle of wine for the winner, a drink ticket for the first place runner, a cowbell for the tenth place finisher, and a novelty award for the last place finisher. Registration pricing listed by the organizer notes a $20 in-person entry fee through September 1, 2026, after which the price increases. The virtual 5K has a separate fee and a registration deadline in early October 2026.
