The Plainfield Harvest Run is an annual community event held in Village Green Park and Downtown Plainfield, Illinois. Established by the Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce, it is the oldest race in Plainfield and celebrates its 28th anniversary in 2026. The event maintains an average attendance of 800 to 900 participants each year.
Participants can choose from several event distances:
- Kids Miler (Open to ages 4-12)
- 5K Run/Walk
- 10K Run
The 10K Run has a specific completion requirement, with participants expected to finish the course within 1 hour and 15 minutes. The start and finish lines are located at Village Green Park at the corner of Fox River and Ottawa Streets.
The event features a pre-race area with various vendors and sponsors located throughout the park. Following the races, an awards ceremony is held in the park, followed by a post-race party at Sovereign in downtown Plainfield. Registered participants receive a beverage and food item at the party while supplies last.
Proceeds from the event are donated to non-profit organizations and community groups in Plainfield and the surrounding areas. To date, the race has contributed over $400,000 back to the local community. Parking is available at Plainfield Central High School, the Plainfield Area Public Library, and on streets north and east of the park.
