Montgomery River Run : River Run 5K, 10K, and Kids' Dash
The River Run is an annual running event held the first Saturday of October along the Fox River in Montgomery. The event offers a USATF certified course that starts and finishes in front of Village Hall at 200 N. River Street.
Distances offered:
- 5K run/walk
- 10K run/walk
- Kids' Dash (0.26 mi)
The race is chip timed by Race Time; each bib contains a QR code for post-race results and results are posted within 24 hours. Water stations and first aid are available on the course. The Kids' Dash is untimed; all kids receive a medal and shirts are included in the kids' race pricing beginning in 2026. Race fees include a dry-fit shirt and a goodie bag while supplies last.
Awards are presented outdoors in front of Village Hall to top male and female finishers in each distance and to the top three finishers in specified age groups. Age group categories begin at 9 & under and continue through 70 and over.
Packet pickup is scheduled at the Village of Montgomery building prior to race day and race packets are organized by each participant's last name. Proceeds support local nonprofit beneficiaries, and the event relies on volunteer roles such as registration, water stations, course marshals, and post-race refreshments.
