Montgomery River Run : event overview
The River Run is an annual community running event held on the first Saturday of October along the Fox River in Montgomery, Illinois. The event offers multiple distances and a certified course that starts and finishes in front of Village Hall at 200 N. River Street.

- 5K run/walk
- 10K run/walk
- Kids' Dash (0.26 mile)
The course is USA Track and Field certified. Timing is provided by Race Time using chip timing; each bib includes a QR code for post-race results. Official results are posted to the village website within 24 hours. The event provides water stations and first aid on the course. The race fee normally includes a dry-fit shirt and a goodie bag while supplies last, and shirts will be included in the Kids' Dash pricing for 2026.
Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K and to the top three finishers in each listed age group. Age categories include 9 and under, 10 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over. Teams of four or more may register under a team option.
Proceeds support local nonprofit organizations. Volunteer roles and sponsorship opportunities are organized annually to support event operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
