Keweenaw Ultramarathon
The Keweenaw Ultramarathon is scheduled for November 7, 2026 at the Michigan Technological University Tech Trails in Houghton, MI. The event offers two trail distances and is run on the university trail network located off the south side of Sharon Avenue across from Sherman Field.
Distances
- 50K two loops of the 25k course; headlamp required for the first 1.5 hours.
- 25k one loop of the course.
The course is marked with neon flags on the right-hand side; flags on the left indicate the wrong way. Runners will cross Pilgrim Road multiple times with a volunteer present to assist crossings. Aid stations are located at miles 4.2 (6.8 km), 11.8 (19 km), 15.6 (25.1 km), 19.8 (31.9 km), and 27.4 (44.1 km). Aid station supplies include water, drink mix, and common ultramarathon food. All athletes must check in at every aid station by reporting their bib number.
Logistics notes include morning bib pickup on race day with separate pickup windows for each distance, options for drop bags at the community room or under a tent, and parking at the main trailhead with overflow in a nearby field and additional Nara lot parking. Races are timed through UltraSignup with no live tracking. Cutoff times are eight hours for the 50K and seven hours for the 25k. Pacers are not allowed.
