UP Health System Great Bear Chase
The Great Bear Chase is a cross-country ski event held at the Swedetown ski trails in Calumet, Michigan. The venue typically receives more than 230 inches of snow each year.
The event offers multiple race distances and formats:
- 52 km: skiathlon, classic, freestyle
- 24 km: classic and freestyle
- 20 km: skiathlon
- 10 km: classic and freestyle
- Para Nordic: 3 km and 5 km; free with Midwest Adaptive Nordic Foundation support
Junior races are available with recommended ages listed:
- 4 km freestyle: recommended for skiers age 10 and older
- 2 km classic: recommended for skiers ages 8 to 10
- 2 km freestyle: recommended for skiers age 8 and older
- 1 km classic: recommended for skiers ages 3 to 8
