Kettle Cooker Five & Dime
The fourth annual Kettle Cooker Five & Dime takes place on the trails of Glenroy Preserve and offers three looped trail race distances. The courses follow shared trails; the 5 mile field splits near mile 4 to finish, the 25K diverges from the 5 mile loop around mile 4, and the 50K consists of two loops of the 25K so runners pass all aid stations twice.
Distances
- 5 Miles
- 25K (15.5 Miles)
- 50K (31 Miles)
Trails include undulating hills, mixed terrain, rocky sections, and multiple creek crossings. The 5 mile course crosses three creeks; the 25K and 50K report at least six creek crossings. The terrain can be technical in parts and trail running shoes are recommended because rocks can be slick and feet may get wet.
There are four aid stations on course. Aid Station 1 at about mile 2.5 offers water and light snacks. Aid Station 2 at about mile 4 is an unmanned water cache. Aid Station 3 at about mile 8 provides water, cola, pickle shots, fruit, cookies, chips, trail mix, and pickles. Aid Station 4 at about mile 12 offers those items plus PBJ, cheese quesadillas, boiled potatoes, NA beer, and Fireball shots. Aid station mileages are approximate.
Post-race provisions include burgers, hot dogs, chili with vegetarian option, chips, beer NA and regular, soda, water, snacks, and music. Pre-race packet pickup is provided at a local location in Oxford, PA the day before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
