Event Overview
The Some Gave All 5K is a running and walking event taking place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Newark, Delaware. The event is held to honor the memory of Staff Sergeant Christopher Slutman, an FDNY firefighter and U.S. Marine who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
Course and Location
The 5K race starts and finishes at Olan Thomas Park, located at 89 Paper Mill Road. A course map is available online for directional purposes. Participants are instructed to park at a lot behind Timothy's of Newark on Creek View Road and walk to the park.
Event Details
Bib pickup occurs on race day from 8:00 AM until 8:55 AM at Olan Thomas Park. Awards are given for overall male and female finishers, overall masters finishers, and the top three in each standard age group.
Post-Race and Proceeds
A post-race celebration with food, drinks, and music takes place at Timothy's of Newark. All funds from the event are donated to two organizations: the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports families of fallen military and first responders, and the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation.
