Kenya Connect 5K - March 28-29, 2026

The 2026 Kenya Connect 5K is scheduled for March 28-29, 2026 in Ellicott City, Maryland. The LIVE race begins at St. John's Episcopal Church (9120 Frederick Road) and follows a course through the Dunloggin neighborhood. The event is offered in both live and virtual formats. Participants may run or walk; strollers are permitted. Pets may participate at the live event if kept on a leash and away from other runners; a bandana is provided for pet participants.

Events, registration and awards

Events listed include a main KC5K Run/Walk, youth divisions, virtual run/walk options, a KC5K Pet Participant, and a CrossFit Pump Challenge and Run. Registration cost is $40 until March 6; the price increases on March 7 to $45. Youth (18 and under) registration is $25. Pet registration is $10 and includes a bandana. Participants who register by March 1 are guaranteed a choice of a Kenya Connect short-sleeved tech shirt or a visor.

Awards feature hand-carved medallions for the top three male and female finishers in multiple age categories and medallions plus gift cards for the top overall male and female ($100 for first place; $50 for second and third). The Pump Challenge requires bench pressing a percentage of body weight (males 75%, females 50%) for max repetitions; each repetition reduces the 5K time by 10 seconds and Pump Challenge placements are scored separately. Teams and fundraisers are eligible for separate recognition; the largest team will have a tree planted in Kenya for each member. Packet pick-up is available the Friday before the race at Feet First in Columbia or on race day at St. John's. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
