Event Overview
The Kenya Connect 5K is a fundraising event supporting education programs for children in rural Kenya. The event offers both a live race and a virtual participation option on March 28-29, 2026.
Event Details
The live 5 km event starts at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, Maryland, and proceeds through the Dunloggin neighborhood. Participants can run or walk, and strollers are welcome. Pets are also allowed to participate.

Prizes and Recognition
Awards include hand-carved medallions from Wamunyu, Kenya, for the top three participants in various age categories (5-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+). The top overall male and female finishers receive additional gift card prizes.
There are team and fundraising challenges. Team captains can meet goals to receive recognition. The largest team and the top overall fundraiser receive special honors, such as support for a beekeeping program or a dedicated library step.
Registration and Logistics
General registration costs $40 until March 6, 2026, increasing to $45 afterward. Registration for participants 18 and under is $25, and pet registration is $10 (including a bandana). Participants can choose a premium: a short-sleeved tech shirt, a visor, or a bandana, with guaranteed availability for registrations by March 1.
Packet pick-up occurs on Friday, March 27, at a sponsor location or on race day at the church. The event is held rain or shine, with indoor space available for pre- and post-race activities.
Race Day Experience
A Kenyan Crafts Market features items made by women in Kenya. Post-race light refreshments and beverages are available. The event is described as a community race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
