Kentucky Derby Festival Race Weekend
The Humana Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon and Marathon is a long standing spring road racing event in Louisville, Kentucky. The 2026 edition marks the 53rd miniMarathon and the 25th Marathon and is described as the largest annual day of road racing in the state. Races start at Louisville Slugger Field in downtown Louisville and route through multiple neighborhoods, including a run through the infield of Churchill Downs. The course concludes with a finish area where participants are greeted by family and friends for a post race gathering.
The weekend program includes the Kentucky Derby Festival 5K presented by First Urology, which debuted in 2025 and returns for 2026. Participants can pursue the KDF Race Challenge by completing the 5K and then either the miniMarathon or Marathon for an additional medal. A virtual option allows runners to complete the mini or full marathon remotely.
