Kennett Square Running Event
The Kennett Run is a long-standing community event held in the rural landscape of Southern Chester County. For over 30 years, this event has brought participants through the scenery of Kennett Square. The course features rolling hills and utilizes Anson B. Nixon Park for its start and finish areas.
The event offers several distances and categories to accommodate various interests:
- 10 km Run
- 5 km Run
- 1 Mile Walk/Run
- 700 yards Kids Fun Run
- 5 km & 10 km PoweRun
The PoweRun categories provide an additional format where participants lift weights before their run. The amount of weight lifted is used to calculate a time adjustment for the final race results. Younger participants can take part in the Kids Fun Run, which takes place around the pond at Anson B. Nixon Park.
The event includes a post-race celebration featuring food, beverages, and entertainment for participants and spectators. Managed by Kennett Run Charities, the proceeds from the race are distributed to various nonprofit organizations in Southern Chester County to support local health, education, and environmental services.
