Chester County Turkey Trot
The Chester County Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning community event held at Downingtown West High School in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. The event marks its 25th year and raises funds for childhood cancer research through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and the Cure4Cam Hero Fund.
Event formats include:
- 5K (two waves: Gold and Blue)
- 2K walk
The program features two separate 5K waves. The Gold Wave is intended for runners with a projected finish under 25 minutes; the Blue Wave is intended for runners with projected finishes over 25 minutes. There is also a social 2K walk and a kids' fun run on the track behind the tennis courts. Technical running shirts are guaranteed to the first 2,000 registered runners; the kids' run does not include a T-shirt.
Awards and postrace items are distributed at the prize table inside the stadium. The Gold Wave includes cash prizes for top finishers and pies for top age-group places; the Blue Wave awards pies to top age groups. The event has historically attracted about 3,000 registered participants. Due to crowding, strollers are strongly discouraged in the Blue Wave and are not allowed in the Gold Wave. Pets are not allowed at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
