Event Overview
Kendra's Race is an annual multisport event held in Goleta, California. Organized by the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Triathlon Team, the event was renamed in 2006 to honor a former teammate. The competition includes individual sprint triathlons for collegiate and open participants, a relay triathlon, and a standalone running race. Portions of the registration fees contribute to a memorial fund.
Course Details
The triathlon segments take place across the UCSB campus and surrounding areas. The swim portion starts at Campus Point, where participants complete an 800m course before ascending wooden steps to the transition area.
The bike course is 12.7 miles long and consists of two loops. This section is characterized by flat terrain and follows a path around the Santa Barbara Airport. The route utilizes paved bike paths through the UCSB campus and passes through Goleta Beach.
The run course is a single 5k (3.1 miles) loop featuring rolling terrain. Participants navigate a mix of paved surfaces and hard-packed trails along the UCSB lagoon and coastal bluffs. One aid station is located along the lagoon trail near the turnaround point. The finish line is located at Lot 6.
